Not receiving Automated emails

Friday morning, I quit receiving automated emails from our Foxray Server.

It is likely that the IT department that provides our email has changed something.

 

What should I check on our end to ensure we are still trying to send out the emails.

I always start with the following from the original Installation Manual…

 

Configure the Foxray Server:

Foxray application has capability to send emails with report and alerts by email to its users.

To  allow  that  to  happen,  foxray must  have  access  to  the  company  SMTP  server  (email

Server). Basically  foxray  should be  able  to  “talk” on  the port  25 on  the SMTP  server.  So,

make sure to have this port open between them. You can test the connection by executing

the following command:

 

   telnet  SMTPSERVER 25

 

Where  SMTPSERVER must  be  replaced with  the  real  SMTP  Server  name.  You  should  get

some  return  from  this  command  (sometimes  even  a  black  page).  But  if  you  get  a

connection  refused  or  any  similar  error  you may  have  a  firewall  problem  or  the  SMTP

server policy  restricting  the  connection  that must be solved. The  SMTP  email  capability  is

optional and can be configured at any time. 

 

Note:  Sometimes  if  Foxray  Server  is  a Windows  Server  2008  or Windows  7,  the  telnet

command is not installed by default. You must install that in Windows Features under the

Server Configuration.

First thing I would do is trying to telnet to the mail server from the Foxray box. The response will tell you where to look at next.

Is there a way to tell what server Foxray thinks it should be using?

I know what server Downtown IT wants me to use.  They change it often.

Everything was working fine for years, then all of a sudden it quit.  We have not had any need to touch the Foxray server, so either they moved servers downtown or something failed.

Run serverconfiguration.exe tool. 

The SMTP server should be listed in there.... You can also use this tool to change it

This worked.  Downtown changed servers on me.  I was able to change Foxray to the correct server.

This almost worked.  I can now send a test email from the ServerConfiguration program.  However, the queries that should go out each night have not resumed.  Do I need to do anything to those, now that the server address has been corrected?

What SENDER you used on the test?

Also, do you have the ScheduleTask task scheduled in your Server? If so, it is running normally?

If yiou use a different sender, you need to make sure you use the same in the batch file calling the Scheduled task bat file after the foxray,db. Ex:

Check_AMSets.exe  foxray.db  mynew...@companyname.com
Check_MODSets.exe  foxray.db  mynew...@companyname.com
..
...
...

I am still working on this.

The sender is fox...@TMWRF-FOXRAY.com 

Can we change this email to match the one on the account we will login with?  This is still the same, I believe, as it was when you set it up originally.

 

The scheduled tasks appear to be working correctly.

 

I am also working with our IT to make sure their servers are not blocking us.

 

Does the system send out the scheduled queries the same way as it sends out the test email from the serverconfiguration.exe tool?

To change the sender, pass the sender email as an argument after the foxray.db entry on the scheduledtasks.bat file under the BIN folder.

ex:

Check_AMSets.exe  foxray.db  mbo...@cityofsparks.goc

Check_MODSets.exe  foxray.db  mbo...@cityofsparks.goc
