Looks like it has some advantages over the variant with motor seating on top of the print head.

have a look at the 3 color variant - all the extruding gears seat on top of the printer:

my understanding of the way pneumatic pipe can be terminated is this way:

some update
got the parts yesterday
checked the inner diameter and it is slightly bigger than 2mm that is great news!
when connected to the ptfe pipe(mine is ID=2 OD=4) gives the filament(1.7mm) free pass through!

now to upgrade the existing extruder is a matter of 2 plates with 3 holes each
plan to make then from aluminium stripe this weekend
