The Story of My Childhood, by Clara Barton (MP3 Audiobook)

Clara Barton (1821-1912) was a pioneer American teacher and nurse, who was
known as the "Angel of the Battlefield" during the American Civil War, and
later
was one of the primary organizers of the American Red Cross. She
wrote this biography of her childhood and early years as a nurse in
response to many schoolchildren's requests. This is a
brand new unabridged audiobook reading of this classic American biography,
and is also a fascinating "peek" at child life in America in the
1820s-30s.

Little Strummers: A Guitar Course for Children Ages 6 - 10 (PDF ebook)

An excellent beginner's guide for young guitarist, by homeschool
mom & part-time guitar teacher, Tara Tarbet. We've been looking at
guitar tutorials for some time, hoping to find something that is
geared specifically for young children just starting out, and to tell
you the truth, this is the best resource I've seen yet. Simple tips
and teaching suggestions, followed by a songbook of 20+ simple and
familiar children's songs (with even more tips at the bottom of
each song). No drawn out instruction that is over the heads of
little ones -- just get in there and start playing. Great fun!

Reformation Day Lessons & Activities!

October 31st (Sunday) isn't just Halloween... it is also Reformation Day, a
holiday in honor of the early protestant reformers!
Today we feature some great links to lessons and activities
explaining and celebrating this unique Christian holiday.
A great teachable moment to learn more about medieval and
church history!

great experiment collections for you: Mouth Experiments (experiments

Friday, Oct 29:
Brooks' Reader, Book 4

This is a great collection of short stories, poems and readings compiled by
Stratton Duluth Brooks for fourth grade level readers, or for reading aloud
to younger age listeners. There's a ton of wonderful stuff in here,
including many famous authors, seasonal readings, biographical stories
of famous people, Bible quotations, lovely poetry, and plenty of
great illustrations. Highly recommended!
