Cindy Freed raised an interesting question with me recently. She said
she is surprised by the number of folks in the Lima Area Civil War
Study Club express Confederate leanings in spite of our location
within the Old Union. She suggested we pose the question:

Where do your sympathies lie, North or South, and why?

Since I brought up this question I thought I'd better answer it! :-)

I am a northern sympathizer all the way. I was born and raised here in
Ohio.
My great-great grandfather was a volunteer with the 81st PA, Co. A and
served from July 1864 to April 1865. He was wounded at the battle at
Farmville on April 7, 1865.
Further strengthening my allegiance to the north.
By the way, if anyone has any information on the 81st PA I'd love to
talk with you. Please track me down at our meeting!

I hope many more people participate in the poll!
Thanks!
Cindy Freed
