This could be fun if anyone would want to walk from our house to the streets of downtown Cary with us for live Latin music (and dancing for those who would want to do that). Let us know!
Seven O'Clock Rock Calls Citizens Out to Strut Their Stuff on the Streets of Downtown Cary
Block party series opens Thursday with minor road closures
CARY, NC – The intersection of Chatham and Academy Streets in downtown Cary will play host to a series of themed community block parties this spring, complete with dance lessons and live entertainment starting this Thursday, April 11 with the Seven O’Clock Rock Series, which will feature Latin Night with Caribe Vibe, a Raleigh-based band performing Tropical Latin dance music. Salsa and Latin Jazz dance lessons start at 7 p.m.; the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The family-friendly concert and dance lesson are free and open to the public, and held “sprinkle” or shine.
“The merchants are open late, and good music and food will greet everyone,” said Sarah Hagan, Downtown Program Specialist. “Each season, the series attracts more and more people to downtown for a night of music while discovering the excitement surrounding the revitalization of downtown Cary.”
On the day of each concert, the Town of Cary will close Academy Street from Cedar St. to Chatham Street at 2:30 p.m. to begin setting up for the event; at 6:15 p.m., the intersection of South Academy and Chatham Streets will close for the event until 9:30 p.m. Access to downtown businesses will be maintained, and attendees are encouraged to park free of charge at the Town of Cary parking deck on Wilkinson Avenue next to the Herbert C. Young Community Center.
