The idyllic life in a small peaceful
village is briefly interrupted by rain. The scene is probably
familiar – and yet puzzling. The soundtrack seems to confirm the
first assumption. The sounds of a peaceful landscape, perhaps early
in the morning, before everything gets going. A play with sound and
image, a visual reduction that is left to the imagination to
interpret, that is a red herring, and does not even solve the riddle
– because where can it possibly rain upwards?

OCTOPUS; Lili White: TRT: 6.00; digi
While
heading towards apocalypse the world ignores warnings that could
possibly save it. THE OCTOPUS' voiceover sets out to confuse the
audience, jumbling together Paul, the psychic octopus who predicted
all of the winners of the 2010 WORLD CUP; a mythic counterpart to
Paul: Cassandra the Greek heroine whose warnings about the Trojan
Horse were disregarded, and psycological theories. Paul was
threatened with murder because of his actions: one Argentinian TV
host obliged with a ritual of his own device. WIKI:Info/YOUTUBE:image
WATERCOLORS;
Ann Deborah Levy; TRT: 13.00; 16 MM
The surface of a pond serves
as a canvas on which nature creates a continually changing painting
that mirrors but alters details of the landscape surrounding it. The
film records changes in weather, foliage, color, and light as
reflected on the water over a course of a year. The filmmaker's
choice of black and white film for a passage of ice shots evokes
Chinese ink painting and her inclusion of distorted reflections of
architectural details and views through out-of-focus trees, hints at
what is not shown but might be.
