Hello All,

Sr. Linux Administrator

Responsibilities:

·         Utilize basic project management skills so that tasks and project deadlines are met.

·         Leverage and build upon open-source configuration management system (Spine).

·         Manage issues dispatched by systems support analysts (NOC group).

·         Prioritize, coordinate and deliver special technology projects.

·         Evaluate and present new technologies to leadership (R&D).

Qualifications:

·         5+ years of Linux/UNIX server administration experience.

·         In-depth understanding of Linux/UNIX fundamentals including kernel subsystems (scheduler, VM, etc), system calls, inter-process communication, process/resource management and file systems.

·         Administration in an environment with 100+ systems.

·         Extensive knowledge of Apache, including performance tuning for high-volume web traffic. Mod_perl and/or JBOSS experience is a plus.

·         Automation experience, preferably using Perl, Python or Ruby and the ability to read and understand code written in C.

·         Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of services such as DNS, SMTP, SSH, HTTPD and DHCP.

·         Working knowledge of Redhat/CentOS, including Kickstart, the use of package management tools (APT/Yum), the ability to write spec files and build RPM packages.

·         An understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMWare or Xen.

 

Senior System Engineer (Linux)

·         Installation, deployment and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, middleware and software

·         Handling all aspects of systems administration, including maintenance of Linux servers, Oracle Application Servers, back-up and restoration procedures, and scripting

·         Participation in departmental and site-wide engineering projects

·         After hours, holiday and weekend support on-call 24/7 as scheduled in rotation with other engineers

·         Maintenance of web, mail, DNS and database servers

·         Interacting with developers and business services personnel regarding hardware, software, e-mail, and network problems and troubleshooting

·         Installing new software releases, performing system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches and resolving software related problems

·         Maintaining data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity

The ideal candidate will possess:

·         6 years of experience in systems administration in a Linux production environment

·         Strong capacity planning skills, including the ability to assess production performance metrics and tune or scale as needed to meet SLA

·         Ability to work in cross functional teams and to provide necessary data to help the team rapidly resolve overall system performance issues

Experience in the following is required:

·         Support of 3-tiered 24/7/365 high-availability website environments

·         Configuration and maintenance of common applications such as Apache, memcached, Squid, MySQL, NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, and SNMP

·         Administration of SAN, including configuration, provisioning, performance and capacity management, and monitoring

·         Virtualization concepts and best practices (VMware)

·         Apache HTTP server and Java EE application server (i.e., WebLogic, JBoss)

·         Scripting in one of the following languages: Shell, Python, Perl, Bash

·         Linux administration of 200+ servers on Enterprise level

·         Administration of Virtualized infrastructure for non-production/production environments

·         Configuration Management tool for environment buildouts (i.e. Cobbler, Kickstart, Puppet, Cfengine)

·         Automation of tools for monitoring, process and documentations
