Recently my Officejet 7610 Printer started behaving strangely. First the wireless connection appeared to be lost and I needed to start using a cable connection. For the past few days the scan function isn't available because the Scan to Computer function is not available. The message reads - cannot connect to the printer.

Today I downloaded the most recent drivers from your page and tried to reinstall the printer. Here I was met with the dilemma that the printer can't be found in either way - not via Wireless connection nor via cable. I have looked in both of these threads:

I specifically like your instruction do not install online from my bad experience(s). Using the HP Support Assistant for my HP OfficeJet 7612 printer totally crashed my printer with a 'missing printhead error'. I know this for a fact since just prior to I had successfully printed out two test pages. I don't know what your reasoning was to mention do not install online? Why would HP online (HP Support Assistant) so to speak not provide working updates or downloads or on the other hand have updates or downloads that do not work or are corrupt downloads to cause problems to the device using the HP Support Assistant? My security software has caught files from HP Support Assistant to have trojan virus in the past and HP never replied back to me so there you go I am blinded why?

What's even worse, on my computer (Windows 8.1), the installed printer HP Officejet 7610 Series Class Driver (that wasn't recognaizin A3 papper size), started to appear as Offline all the time. I started being NOT able even to print in any size!

Since you are using Windows 8 and not Windows 7, the only other drivers available would be the Class drivers which are Windows preinstalled drivers. (Basic Drivers) The best drivers to use are the actual model name.

I am having this same issue of not able to print on A3-size paper. I had a 6 month old HP 8610 printer that I replaced with the HP7610 for the sole purpose of being able to print A3. However, A3 is not one of the paper options available on the drop down menu list.

In an attempt to correct the problem, I have tried updating the driver as suggested, but the only drive update available is the Type 4, not the Type 3 as suggested. I have this printer directly connected to the docking station of my 6 month old MS Surface Pro III. The Surface Pro does not have a disc drive slot, so any recommendation to load the driver directly from the disc is not an option either.

Got a user call on Friday right before the time to leave and he had a rather interesting issue. His printer is an HP OfficeJet 7610 and the option to print an 11"x17" paper format was completely gone from his drop down list of options. He has the options to print 8"x11", legal, etc. Here are the troubleshooting steps that I have already taken:

Usually the paper options are controlled by the driver. Perhaps Windows Update updated it and you lost the option? Rolling back might solve this. Otherwise, delete the printer and remove the driver, get the latest from HP, and reinstall the printer using the new driver.

Turn on your HP OfficeJet 7610 and open the cartridge access door. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue. This should take only a few seconds.

Hold the ink cartridge for HP OfficeJet 7610 upside down for 1-2 minutes. Then remove orange protective cap carefully.

Match the label color with the color on the carriage. Then install the cartridge into the corresponding slot.

If the ink cartridge does not seat properly, remove it from the carriage. Gently bend the tab away from the cartridge, and reinsert it into the carriage.

I have equipped my HP 7610 printer with the duplex extension, but the configuration dialogs of Ubuntu and Kubuntu still have the duplex option greyed out. Even re-installing the printer does not help. It seems the printer doesn't tell the computer that it is capable of duplex printing now, still the same configuration is used.

That enabled me to tell the CUPS system that the duplex option is installed and to select duplex printing in applications. Unfortunately, all output came out "short edge/flip". I had to add the following after the line "*RequiresPageRegion All: True" to make CUPS turn one side of the page so that the output now is perfect:

To get the best out of your HP Officejet 7610 all-in-one colour printer, you should only use genuine HP ink. At Printerland, we can supply a range of standard and XL cartridges as individual CMYK colours or rainbow multipacks. We guarantee the lowest prices in the UK and ship all orders received before 4 pm the same day.

The HP Officejet 7610 all-in-one wide format printer allows you to print professional marketing materials, including posters and brochures, without having to contract out to a commercial printer. Its space saving design and versatile paper handling make the 7610 perfect for small businesses.

Designed for office environments that print up to 800 pages a month, the HP 7610 provides a simple cost-effective solution for small businesses that want to reduce costs by bringing the printing of commercial materials in-house. Running costs are kept low by using genuine HP XL cartridges which can print up to 1,000 pages monochrome and 825 pages colour.

To get the best performance out of your HP 7610 printer, we recommend only using genuine HP inks. HP inks are designed to work with your HP 7610 printer to provide high-quality printing with outstanding colour vibrancy and definition.

Genuine HP inks are also formulated to help prevent printhead corrosion which can result in the clogging of tiny microscopic holes in the printhead, causing smearing and splattering. This helps prolong the life of your printer, ensuring that it continues to print high-quality results, long after the warranty has expired.

Genuine HP inks are also manufactured using the latest environmentally friendly techniques. This ensures that the cartridges are easy to recycle, using as little energy as possible. Even the packaging is environmentally friendly and can be reused to send back empty cartridges for recycling when required.

We also deliver to the Channel Islands, Scottish Islands, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and Eire. Areas such as the Scottish Highlands or where a body of water is crossed are subject to a 2-3 working day delivery time.

In terms of print claims, HP suggests the OfficeJet 7610 is capable of "up to" 32ppm draft black A4 printing, scaling down to 3.5ppm in best quality, while on the colour side it's claimed to be good for 29/3ppm respectively. HP doesn't provide speed claims for A3 printing, which is slightly annoying. Who's going to buy an A3 printer and not print at A3 sizes on it?

Setup of the Officejet 7610 is relatively straightforward, with the usual array of small bits of blue tape to unravel and print cartridges to install. HP supplies every type of cable you'd need for connectivity in the box.

One factor that we rather liked during setup was that the printer itself comes wrapped in what we can only call a shopping bag. This is a plus because the OfficeJet is as noted, quite large and bulky. Getting it out of the box by yourself without the handles on the plastic bag would be murder. With them, it's only mildly abusive.

It's Wi-Fi capable, and the 2.65-inch LCD display makes it fairly simple to throw onto a network for direct access across multiple machines. We tested print speeds with a connected USB cable largely to eliminate any network bottlenecks, but both ethernet and Wi-Fi worked well during our test period.

Printing at A3 sizes naturally saw print speeds fall, as did printing in colour. It's not likely that you'd just want to print plain text at A3 sizes, but we found that if you did, the average print speed was around 35 seconds per page. Start sending it more complex A3 colour work and speed drops to below 1ppm, but that's very much to be expected.

Colour quality when printing on either plain or photo paper was decent without being stellar. Again, that's a matter of the right tool for the job; if photo fidelity is a must-have item, then a dedicated photo printer would be a better option.

Running an A3 printer is never going to be a cheap enterprise, and it's not for everybody. If you have regular need to print A3 documents then the HP Officejet 7610 is a generally fine printer, but we'd suggest investing quickly in the high yield cartridges to keep your costs down. If you only need very intermittent A3 printing, we'd suggest a cheaper regular A4 printer and intermittent trips to the copy shop.
