Hi there LightPainters!

Today is the last day of the PICoS Mid-May Challenge. For those of you who are not clued up on what it is all about (shame on you! :-)), please visit this link: The Mid-May Challenge for more info. Three PICoS members already have contributed.

I will quickly refresh your mind about it:
  1. it is a two-weekly photography challenge (in short: occurs twice a month)
  2. photos must be taken in those specified periods (to help one with creativity)
  3. it is either technical or creative (but it is always fun!)
  4. everyone do it in their own time and effort
  5. photos must be send in for feedback
Remember: it is all about individual efforts, to improve your own creativity and photography skills. If you do not participate in it, no one will be able to help you improve your photography skills. So, if you have any photos taken with "framing" as theme, please upload them and send us an email about it. Thanks!

Since this "challenges" are a new idea, I am going to use, on a two-weekly rotational base, different themes, to keep everyone's interest in it. So, the next PICoS Challenge would be much more easier and it is creative! No technical stuff at all!  ;-)

The 2nd PICoS (June) Challenge will be "Shadows". There are no specific guidelines on how to capture "shadows" - no 'Rules of Third, no 'Framing', no technical rules to adhere to. You may interpret this theme in any way (creative and/or artistic) as you wish. If you still need some ideas - here are a few examples (click me). And lastly, It will run from 1 June 2008 to 15 June 2008.

As for the PICoS (outdoors) photoshoot events, I am still trying to organise some events - will keep you guys updated on it.

In the meantime, there are some of us who are planning to take some land/sea-scape photos tomorrow, in the late afternoon, at Strand. Terribly sorry for this very short notice but to be honest: it was just very recently thought out by another fellow photographer (after all those rains kept us indoors). Thanks to the winter season: clean clear air with interesting cloud patterns are now becoming the norm, setting for a perfect backdrop to land/sea-scape photography. Everyone is welcome to attend this very informal, impromptu meeting. We will meet at Kaapzicht Restaurant (on Saturday, 31 May 2008), at 3:00pm, for a quick cup of coffee or tea, to meet other photographers and discuss ideas/locations. And then we start out from there on.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 082 412 4540 (my wife wll answer it) and I will try to help out where I can.

Have a great weekend everyone!
Thys
