Hi all,

I have volunteered to take over the management of the affairs of PICoS temporarily, until Duke returns from his well-deserved holidays :-)
Will discuss club organisational matters with Duke shortly.

I have some interesting ideas with regarding photography sessions, for both outdoors, indoors and solo (ie, on your own) activities but firstly, it is very important for Duke and me to know that you are still interested in PICoS activities.

Please indicate via this email:
  1. 1. if you still wish to participate in various PICoS events, or
  2. 2. if you wish to be removed form our mailing list.
It's ok to remain a 'silent member' and keep abreast of all our activities but you will benefit much more by participating in our activities.
  3. 3. as well as any new ideas / suggestions for event shoots (be it indoors, outdoors or whatever new theme) you would like to try out?

Thanks in advance.
Have a nice (long) weekender or two! :-)
Thys

Greetings to all!

Thys, thank you for, volunteering to do this, and I am sure your fresh approach can only benefit our club. I look forward to receiving your emails and suggestions, as well as each member's responses.

I would like to take this opportunity to propose tow ideas that would take us a tad closer to being a more 'formal' club than we have been hitherto. To justify my proposals and to provide some context, it must be said that they stem from suggestions and comments made by some members, as well as our liaison to the PSSA, who mentioned that "there is a definite need for a club in Stellenbosch". In light of this, here are my proposals.
  • How about, in addition to our almost-monthly photo shoots (where we go as a group) we have a monthly meeting at the Stellenbosch Library (I've asked them about such 'accommodation' and it is available. We just have to negotiate a day of the week and the time). During such meetings, we can have presentations, talks, and other activities related to photography. This would probably require us to pay a small annual fee, to cover the costs of using the library as a meeting venue. Any members interested could come to a first meeting, in which we can decide on the structure and operations of our club in that context. Having said that, I also propose we keep doing what we have been doing up to now, i.e. organising outings to venues where we engage in photo shoots as a group.
  • An additional proposal I have is to ask who among PICoS & LightPainters is interested in serving on a 'admin' committee so that we can see to it that the club runs constantly and smoothly in spite of personal obligations of individual committee members. If there are as many volunteers as there are positions available on the proposed committee, then we need not have elections. Otherwise, we could elect a committee to run the club properly.
Anyway, those are my proposals for now, and I look forward to any comments you (all members of PICoS & LightPainters) may have in this regard.

Once again, thanks to Thys for assisting in the running of the admin affairs of the club while I am otherwise occupied by our Eastern Orthodox Easter celebrations and my wife's and my holiday to Knysna!!!

:-)

Keep well all... and keep in touch.

Maybe we can encourage Thys to stay on a more permanent basis. ;-)
