To get the hunters home from the city park, they received a simple clue with a SKETCH of this birdhouse in orange which of course is the from our striped garden bench and birdhouse project. Since the kids helped me paint it this summer they knew exactly where to go.

When compared to Building Automation Systems (BAS) Re-tuning and Energy and Water ASHRAE Audits (levels 1, 2, or 3), a treasure hunt is a simple entry-level, zero- to low-cost method which can yield results in 1 to 2 months.
To facilitate a successful treasure hunt at your site, you will need to have leadership buy-in and participants, as well as meet facility requirements. Participants should include a cross-section of team members at the site:
Day one activities include observing the selected facility under operating conditions. After receiving FEMP-provided equipment and safety training, treasure hunt teams compiled from agency personnel will observe and record equipment operation focusing on lighting, water, and compressed air. The teams will determine if the equipment needs to be running or if run times and demand can be decreased. Energy consumption will be determined before and after adjustments to determine progress toward EO 14057, Energy Act of 2020, and EISA 2007 goals.
Day two is a deeper dive into more complex systems such as the BAS, HVAC, building envelope, and other building systems. With approval from local O&M leadership, treasure hunt participants may make gradual, minor adjustments to equipment to increase efficiency. Energy consumption will be determined before and after adjustments to determine progress toward identified goals.
After a treasure hunt, the FEMP team will continue to be available to the site for questions and additional support. Additionally, the FEMP team will introduce various resources that stretch across the energy spectrum and are available online, in-person, or remotely.
Why should I participate? To learn about UC Merced student services and interesting campus locations, make new friends along the way, and be entered into a drawing to win a gift card in the value of $25 to $50. The more students who complete the hunt, the more prizes there will be! If there are 50 completers, there will be one $25 gift card. If there are 100 completers, we will add a $50 gift card. If there are 150 completers, we will add another $25 gift card, and so on!
How do I join? Download the Scavify app and register using your UC Merced email address to create your account. Make up your own username and create a unique password! Once you have created an account, join the Fall 2023 hunt and complete all the tasks.
How do I play? The hunt is organized to help you learn about campus resources. By following the tasks in order (they are set up to move clockwise around campus), you will save time and energy. You do not have to complete the tasks in order, but all the tasks must be completed for you to be entered in the drawing for a prize.
How do I play if I don't have access to a mobile device? If you do not have access to a mobile device, please come to Student Services Building (SSB) 216 for an alternate method of completing the hunt, or reach out to Summer Session (summer...@ucmerced.edu) for assistance.
How can I win? By completing the treasure hunt! Every matriculated and enrolled UC Merced undergraduate student who completes the hunt, and who did not win a prize in a prior Bob Cat Treasure Hunt, will be entered into the drawing to win a prize in the Fall 2023 hunt.

You set up a treasure hunt by hiding clues and the treasure. The clues can be simple drawings that your child has to find. Each clue tells your child where to find the next clue. The final clue leads to the treasure.
Treasure Hunt: The Ride is an immersive dark ride adventure. Through storytelling and creativity, guests find themselves in the middle of an original pirate tale. The adventure begins as they learn about the notorious pirate Captain Hippolyte Bouchard. In 1818 he led the only pirate attack on Monterey, California. No one knows what became of Bouchard and his treasure laden ships, but legend says he stashed his treasure somewhere in the secret caverns beneath Cannery Row.
Over the past 60 years, Cannery Row has evolved from a diamond in the rough to a storied destination that welcomes millions of guests each year. The former coastal fishing hub that saw new life through the words of John Steinbeck today features historical highlights, culinary treasures, upscale inns and extraordinary scenic beauty.
When the Moody family takes a weekend trip to "Artichoke" Island, third-grader Judy and her little brother Stink don't know what to expect. But what they find is a pirate, and he sends them on a treasure hunt, racing against rivals Tall Boy and Smart Girl! Can they find the hidden clues, crack the secret codes, and solve the tricky puzzles before time runs out? A funny, adventurous play for young audiences based on the Judy Moody books by Megan McDonald.
The Peoria Academy of Science and Peoria Riverfront Museum are pleased to welcome you to the 33rd Annual Science Treasure Hunt. The Treasure Hunt is a combination of family adventure and scavenger hunt focusing on science and technology facilities and resources in the tri-county area.
Drawing Winner Selection: Following the end of the Treasure Hunt at 11:59 PM Central Time on Labor Day (Monday, September 8), up to 100 winners will be chosen at random from the eligible hunters. Each will receive several prizes consisting of books, puzzles, and other neat science stuff. Then, three of the initial winners are randomly selected for additional prizes.
Completed game cards can be deposited, along with a minimum one dollar contribution, at one of three NorthShore businesses. Depending on their number of correct answers, successful treasure-hunters are then registered for the chance to win one of three gift baskets filled with gift certificates and goodies from favorite NorthShore shops and restaurants. All collected monies are supplemented by NSMC and donated to the Northside Neighborhood House for its annual Toy Drive. NNH works with its clients to purchase specific toys and items their children have requested from Santa.
This NSMC signature holiday activity was inspired by one of its members, Jamie George, who grew up in the town of Gillingham in Dorset, England where he remembers a similar treasure hunt. "It was a lot of fun and an annual tradition there," Jamie recalls. "You'd run into your friends doing the same thing so it was a good way to catch up with everyone. The tradition prevails today."
