Did we pick a PvP server for a reason? Because it's come to my
attention/experience that it's virtually impossible to do anything
past level 25 or so on a PvP server without routinely being insta-
killed by the other side without warning. Are people actually
interested in PvPing? (In which case we could see about doing a
Battleground at some point.)

Because my friends, who have ended up not playing, were on there. And
I have memories of enjoying my time on a RP-PVP server at level 26 or
so in Hillsbrad. I recall some minor insta-gibbing, but mostly fights
between appropriate-leveled folk. Is this really no longer the case?

If we do end up switching servers, Lightninghoof unfortunately isn't
one of the crowded ones. I'd assume we want to go to an RP server.
Would we want to go to a high-population or low-populatin one?
Character transfers are expensive, but I'd pay at least to move one
(Varsav) over. Thoughts?

Actually. all the RP servers are medium or low.

Well, I don't know. We can stick it out for a while and see how it
goes, as it would be frustrating to start over again (or pay $25 per
character to transfer) on another server. My first time running
through Hillsbrad I was killed instantly, and we had that time in
Stonetalon. I don't know if those are representative or not, though.

OTOH, if we are going to start over, better to do it sooner than
later. Since we've had multiple bad experiences, and no good
experiences.....

Also, if we each transfered one character, and restarted the others,
it might not be so bad (balancing cost and frustration)

Hm. I don't really want to pay even the $25 for one character, though
at least then I could transfer some money and possessions and such. I
guess the thing to do would be to test the waters a bit more in
contested zones to see if it's going to be viable on this server? I
don't know. I guess we should see what others think.

Alright, lets try out Hillsbrad a bit more and see how bad it is.

I know I have had a lot of frustration and getting down right pissed off when I run into the Allience.  I'm also pretty frustrated with the idea of starting all over again.  So I will go either way.  I would just like to have the decision soon, because I really don't want to play, until I know where we will wind up.  I can't afford to transfer my charactors and all of their stuff is soulbound.  But I am also getting to the point where I just stop playing and log off whenever I see Alliance.

I'm not a big fan of world pvp; I've enjoyed warsong gulch on a non-
pvp server but I tire of it pretty quickly.

I don't feel strongly about what kind of server we're on, but this is
my first pvp server so I don't really have any data to go on.

So, um, I'll do whatever y'all do. :)

I emailed blizzard, on the off chance that they are going to be
helpful. HOpefully they'll respond tomorrow.

y'know, it occurs to me -- Hillsbrad may be a bad fit for us. The
Horde has quests there starting at 20, but Alliance doesn't get quests
there 'till later so they'll all be higher level.

I'd guess Stonetalon might be a little more balanced. And the
instances -- Shadowfang Keep! And in not too long, Razorfen Kraul.

This is true... but even so, I kind of think that as a group we are
more interested in PvE stuff, and that my choice of a PvP server was a
poor one. Given how annoying getting ganked is, it might be preferable
in the not-very-long run to switch to another realm.

There's always the outside chance some blizzard employee will take
pity on us. If he does offer a group rate, or something, I'd be happy
to pay it.

I'm willing to consider starting over as well, though I'd be sorely
tempted to transfer a character. I doubt Blizzard will come through
with the offer of a bulk rate or anything, though, so... we'll see. I
spent a little time in Hillsbrad today without seeing any Alliance,
but we WILL inevitably end up getting ganked sometimes. So I am also
willing to go either way, leaning towards transferring if Blizzard
offers us any kind of discount/etc.

Hey guys,

As one of the people who rarely posts but who's spent a lot of time on
PvP servers, I have to tell you that this is, essentially,
representative of the type of server we've chosen, particularly at the
hours most of us will be on. I don't get a lot of ganking happening,
but that's because I play very late. Overall, there will be good and
bad days, but the further we go the worse this will become.

Is that a reason to switch servers? I'm not sure. I'm porting one of
my previous characters off of Maelstrom, another PvP, out of sheer
hatred for the setup of PvP servers.

On the other hand, the farther on we go, the more chance we have of
not getting our butts kicked. It's a great joy of Alli players to come
to lower level places and gank (I had to steer several people through
Brill today, while some rogues were "playing"), and Hillsbrad is one
they love. Later on, we'll run into Winterspring, Ashenvale, Stonard,
and other places with similar issues.

I'm not casting a for or against, mostly because I'm running other
characters currently and am not too worried, as long as everyone's
having an okay time. I just wanted to put my two cents and experience
out there. Hope it helped.

response from blizzard: unhelpful. I sent a reply back asking if ther
emight be free character transfers out of Lightninghoof soon, since
it's the one thing they didn't comment on and there has been a queue.

I'm thinking if we each transfer one character, it might go ok.
