is it possible to keep the grids view open in a popup window ?

Please add my vote to that as well Mat! :D It would be great to be able to get things like Grid View, Patch and maybe some other windows in some kind of separate window, even more so when using multiple or large displays.

In fact, the plus version of this feature would allow users to pop-out any of the "config" type panes to a separate floating window like the "Mast View" window, or even

the dream version would allow configurable magnetic docking of the panes in another window to have "on the other screen"

but in the first instance:

- a checkbox or similar within any of the configuration views/panes to "open in separate window by default"

- a button within panes to "pop-out in separate window"

I appreciate there might be issues with the logic for writing out the config changes.... if so, perhaps an additional "commit changes" button would work.

Of course, you might think that's a dirty hack which is antithetical to the program's existing design patterns and user flows.

A pop-out grid view would help my weak memory though. 

Currently my unpleasant workaround for my weak memory is a bunch of screenshots in my GoogleDocs design doc.
