This is the first time I'm trying to map a fixture. I have this cheap DMX RGBW spot I'd like to map into Lightjams. What's the best way to approach this?

I had a look at the video (https://www.lightjams.com/templateEditor.html) and created a mapping. Understand the probably some of it can be done in Lightjams but this is more about understanding the process. I tried to set the presets as well to test it out.

but then when I patch the fixture I get this

So I'm not sure how I control the different DMX channels based on the map (e.g. ch2 to 255 for full red etc.). Also how do we access the presets on the grid?

Unless you absolutely want the built-in effects, I'd probably use a fixed attribute for the CH1 with a value of 0%. Then the RGBW attribute and finally another fixed attribute for the CH6 with a value of 0%.

Ok I can try that but the main issue I have is how do I control the fixture on the grid? All I get are the four attributes effect, hue, saturation and intensity per the picture. For instance how do I set Red (ch2) to 100% red (255) or select a particular effect on ch6? Also how are the presets used?

To get the full red, put the hue, saturation and intensity attributes on a grid. Then select the intensity attribute on the grid and set it to 50%, select the saturation attribute and set it to 100%.

You also need to have at least one source on the grid sending power to all your attributes.

If you've added an effect attribute, put it on a grid and select the preset you've created to see what it does.

Ok I was able to create the effect attribute and the presets via the fixture editor. I can select the preset on the attribute after adding a source to it. How do I access/set the preset externally say via MIDI or OSC?

Hi,

You could create one grid per preset and activate the proper grid based on MIDI. Or you can put multiple times your attribute on the grid configured with different presets and move a source to activate the attribute you want based on MIDI.

Look at the Cuelist/sequence video tutorial for some ideas: https://www.lightjams.com/tutorial.html
