I would be very happy about some additional options for the Open DMX USB interface.

fps:
- the frame rate in LightJams seems to be fixed at 25 fps
- the Open DMX USB hardware seems to work reliably with QLC+ up to 43 fps
- some cheap wireless DMX interfaces (Lixada) use a fixed frame rate of about 33 fps (depending on the frame size)
- it would be very practical if the frame rate in LightJams could be set precisely
- this would avoid mismatched frame rates leading to lost or duplicated frames

Frame size:
- it would be great if the frame size was adjustable
- this would allow higher frame rates with a smaller frame size

Show activity
- It might be nice to see the output activity on the USB DMX tab like on the ArtNet tab

Perhaps it would be possible to consider this for a future version?

Hi,

If your USB device is generic, you might use the COM/Serial type in Lightjams instead of the OPEN. The OPEN is mainly for the Enttec Open USB and unfortunately, it doesn't work well over 25fps. At the moment, no more work is planned for the Open DMX output.

Thanks for the quick reply Mathieu!

The USB-DMX interface actually only consists of an original FTDI-USB serial converter and a level shifter.  This is recognized as OPEN DMX in both LightJams and QLC+. It is very inexpensive and quite practical.

With QLC+ it seems to work quite reliably at 40 fps.

The interface does not work with COM/Serial in LightJams.

No problem! We will then probably switch to ArtNet or sACN.

Best regards
