I am getting really sick of hue fading even with the wrap around option. I know you must be converting HSI to RBG to send each RBG channels the correct values. Is there anywhere you can create a fader option that occurs after the conversion back to RBG? It's the one part of light jams that I feel the least professional with.

Thanks,

Hi Jeff,

Can you remind me the kind of effect you're trying to achieve? What you want is to fade the saturation to 0% then back to 100% (or the desired value) at the same time as you do a hue transition. This will give you a transition going through "grayish" colors like in RGB. You can look at the transition.hue and transition.saturation functions.

Cheers,
Mathieu

Your saturation idea makes a lot of sense. But I am terrified of messing with saturation because last time I tried using saturation attributes I couldn't get my colors right and had to restart my programming.

The effect I am trying to achieve is exactly as you stated. I would like the lights to go through white rather than all of the hues in between when fading between two hues.

If you could help devise a solution for this, then converting to RBG for fading would not be needed.

My guess is that the saturation would have to rise to max and then fall back down in the same amount of time as I have my fade time set to.

Another idea I have it to have the intensity rise to max and then fall back to 50 in the same amount of time as my fade time.

P.S. The more you can help me, the more promotional and instructional video I can give you. I've already done about 100 shows with lightjams and I tell a lot of people about it. I see a lot of potential with lightjams but you need to satisfy your customers. It only takes one crucial missing feature for someone to take another route. (Especially with the learning curve needed for lightjams) Keep up the good work Matt.

You could solve it with a sequence....

Hi Jeff,

Here's a test project fading the hue and saturation attributes at the same time. It's not perfectly like when using RGB, but it's pretty close. The thing to remember is the saturation attribute can be faded using the grid's activation. In this case, by doing a crossfade between two groups, the hue and saturation fade at the same time.

I guess the problem you've had with the saturation attributes is that once you start playing with them, they lose their default 100% value. To prevent this, just create a default saturation grid sending 100% to all saturation attributes and activate this grid when you need it.
