With a relatively cheap UMC1820 I could get 8 channels up and running in LightJams.
Wonderful.

LightJams even recognized the midi capability of the interface.
I'm not sure how to utilize that though. An apc40 has a usb connector, not a 5 pins round midi connector.

The asio drivers have the habit of taking over the audio capability of the pc. What can be done about that ?

Hi,

About the APC40, why not plug it in your computer via the USB cable?

For the music output, I think you need to use the UMC1820 line outs and plug it in an amplifier or in your speakers. Some configuration is surely needed, so hopefully the user manual will help you :) One thing is sure, Lightjams will not play the audio. So you need to route the audio to your speakers.

Yes, the interface has an mains out. No problem. But the PC is wasted asiowise.

Most consumer grade sound cards cannot do anything else when using ASIO (or only allows one app to access the soundcard when ASIO is acitve). Unfortunately, it's a limitation.
