what would be the best way to route music from say Ableton Live to Lightjams?

I don' want to use the Lightjams Music Player

Im running a PC. Ive read about virtual audio cable programs and Jack, but I just wanted to know if anybody has any experience. I also need to send the audio out of my interface or headphone out.

Thanks for the help yall!

Hi,

The easiest way is when your sound card has a loopback/stereo mix option to record what you ear. Sometimes, you need to enable it. See this for more details: http://www.lightjams.com/musicToDMX.html#stereoMix

If your sound card doesn't have a loopback, check this free virtual sound input/output: http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/index.htm.

Configure ableton to output in the virtual cable input and then use the virtual cable output in Lightjams. In the Windows sound recording panel, configure the virtual cable output to also output to your speakers if needed. Click the properties button then go in the listen tab, check the "listen to this device" box and select your speakers in the drop down box.
