Hi,

I recently upgraded lightjams to version 1.0.0.509 from the previous version and now I get a error window popping up every 20 minutes that says Lightjams has stopped working.  The program closes when I close the error window.  I have a valid express license and am running Windows 10 home premium 64 bit.  I did not have this version with the 2 previous versions of Lightjams.  What is going on and if there is no quick fix how to I downgrade to the previous version of Lightjams with which I had no problems?

Thanks

Jeff

Hi,

It's a pretty bad error. You should see more details by going in the Windows Event Viewer.

You can uninstall the current version and install this one: https://www.lightjams.com/app/old/lightjams32_1_0_0_446.zip

Are you using video capture or any input? Send me as much info as possible!

Mathieu,

Can I get version v.481?  There was one recent update that fixed a MIDI problem with fast notes which I needed.  Also if I uninstall and then re-install Lightjams do I need to re-install my license or does the re-install of Lightjams automatically take care of this.  I will send you as much info on the v.509 before I install on older version.

Thanks,

Jeff

There's more info in the Windows Event Viewer. Press the windows key and then type "event". Select Event Viewer. Then go in the Windows log/Application and you should see an error corresponding to the Lightjams crash.

Matthieu,

Attached is what I found in the event log.  I do not have any video capture running and any input I am using is the same as I have used previously with no problems.  I did install  the Kontakt 5 music player  and I noticed after I did that I got a "not signed in to microsoft one drive" error each time I started windows.  I do not normally have my computer attached to the internet while I am using it.  I am not sure if my problems with Lightjams started after I installed this player or whether they started after I updated to v.509 since the first time that I used Lightjams after I installed the player might have been when I updated it to v.509.

The error I get when running Lightjams occurs exactly every 20 minutes.  This seems to correspond to the pause in operation that Lightjams does when you do not have a license.  Do you think check for a license this might trigger the error that I get on my computer?  A valid license does show up in Lightjams when I go to the License tab.

Please let me know what I should do to get rid of this error.

Thanks,

After a day of testing on different computers, it looks like this error was caused by a problem with the .Net Framework. Microsoft fixes the issue a while ago and up-to-date computers should already have the fix. I was able to reproduce the crash on one computer and it went away after running Windows Update.

The original reporter (Jeff) also confirmed that running Windows Update fixed the problem.
