Hey!

I'm wondering if there's a way to change/replace fixtures as well as resizing similar grids? I've programmed a system to use wherever I go, the only downside being the slightly tedious process of changing all the attributes one by one when I'm in a new venue. Is there an easier way?

A classic text-format find/find&replace would be really neat as well!

Hi,

About resizing grids, I guess that's because they all have the same attributes and you're adding/removing fixtures. The best way is to use the linked layout option when duplicating your grids. However, you can't decide to link grids after... There's a new option coming in the next beta to link only the actual grid size and attributes positions (attributes can still be configured).

If you're tech-savvy, you can edit the project file directly and do the search and replace you need.

Perfect, thank you! The coming feature sounds really useful! When is the beta due to be released?

I guess I'll have to give it a try, editing the project file with notepad. Makes me nervous I'm gonna break something though :P

The new beta should come this week. About editing the project file, sure you'll break things. It's part of the fun ;) Just copy your file before and you don't have to fear anything.

The new beta version 570 is available: https://www.lightjams.com/history.html

There's the new duplicate option still allowing to configure attributes even though the grid is linked.

Sweet! Just checked and it looks really neat. Also noticed that saturation grids are handled differently now and that i can import color palettes!
For the grid linking, would it be possible to have an option to only link the layout as well? Many times my int, hue and sat grids will have the same size/layout.

Oooh, just noticed the Import>Patch>Replace feature! Thank you for adding that!

Oh wait, maybe I misunderstood how linking the attributes/layout works now.

Tried it a bit now, think I got how it works. What I'm thinking is.. if it was possible to link only the layout, I could first create say the intensity grid, duplicate that one twice only linking the size and make those two my hue and saturation grids. Then, in turn duplicate all three linking both size and attributes to create new scenes and effects etc. Meaning I would adjust the size of all grids by just editing the intensity grid. Does that make sense? Possibly even be able to link the layout/positions of the attributes but being able to switch the type of attribute.

At the moment, you can't swap the attributes on a linked grid. It would be a bit tricky to do so since in many situations, it's handy to be able to add/replace attributes on the master and having all linked grids being updated.
