Hello,

I have just upgraded computer, and now have 16GB ram, ssd, i7 and graphics card.

I was expecting to be able to get smooth flowing light jams with the higher specifications.

To test lightjams running speed I have added in enough sources and enlarged the grid size to 1000 x 1000 which quite quickly slowed light jams right down.

However, the computer only appears to be using 25% of memory and 20% of cpu, but wont actually increase the allocation to light jams to allow it to run faster.

Can you help identify where the problem might be, to allow me to run light jams smoothly and use larger allocation of system resources.

A 1000x1000 grid is very large. You can create a grid like this but you won't be able to use sources that target all cells with fancy things like delay or the shader mode.

With one million cells, there are many empty cells I guess. This is really a waste of resources and you should try not having too many empty cells. In Lightjams, each cell is a little simulator and is precious.

As for the 20% CPU utilization, it's because each grid is evaluated on a CPU core. So you probably has a 4 core CPU and one of the core is at 100% utilization. If you had multiple large grids like that, the total CPU utilization would be higher.

Alternatively, you can try reducing the output rate in the view/configuration and general settings.
