Lightjams can work with a really wide range of computers, starting with very low powered and small computers like the Intel NUC for $300. Here's a short list of what feels like great deals and able to cover most project sizes.

Entry level, powerful enough for most projects, reliable with a small form factor:

$800 USD
Lenovo ThinkCentre M920 Tiny
Processor: Intel Core i5-8600T vPro (6-Core, 2.30GHz, up to 3.70GHz with Turbo Boost, 9MB Cache)
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64
Memory: 8GB DDR4 2666MHz
Video Adapter: Integrated Graphic Card
Hard Drive: 128GB Solid State Drive, 2.5", SATA3
Networking: Integrated Gigabit Ethernet Port
HDMI Out Port: Optional HDMI port
Dust Shield: Dust Shield for Tiny

When you need more power:

$1100 USD
Dell Vostro MT 3670
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 8700 (6-Core/12-Thread, 12MB Cache, up to 4.6GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost)
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit English
Memory: 8GB 1x8GB DDR4 2666MHz
Hard Drive: Dual drives with PCIe M.2 128GB Solid State Drive+ 1TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive
Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050Ti with 4GB GDDR5 Graphics Memory
Networking : Integrated Gigabit Ethernet Port + Wireless: 802.11bgn + Bluetooth 4.0, 1x1

Rack workstation, perfect for touring! This is a 1U rack computer for high profile installations at a really great price. Dell offers an on-site service that is also worth it. The big difference with this server computer and consumer level computers is that it’s made to work at close to 100% load, 24/7. That’s why the Xeon processors are so much more costly.

$2600 USD
Dell Precision 3930 Rack

Processor: Intel Xeon E-2246G( 6-Core/12-Thread, 12MB Cache, 3.6Ghz, 4.8Ghz Turbo)

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro for Workstations (4 Cores Plus)
Memory : 8GB 2x4GB DDR4 2666MHz RDIMM ECC
Video Adapter: NVIDIA® Quadro® P620, 2GB, 4 DP
Hard Drive : C2 SATA HDD/SSD Drives, with Intel RSTe SW RAID 0,1,5,10, Dual Raid 256GB SATA Class 20 Solid State Drive
Networking : default+ Intel I210 1Gb Ethernet Adapter (2x1Gbit)
Power supply: Dual, Hot-plug, Redundant Power Supply (1+1), 550W

$3800 USD
Dell Precision 3930 Rack
Processor: Intel Xeon E-2288G (8-Core/16-Thread, 16MB Cache, 3.7Ghz, 5Ghz Turbo)

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro for Workstations (4 Cores Plus)
Memory : 16GB 2x8GB DDR4 2666MHz RDIMM ECC
Video Adapter: NVIDIA® Quadro® P2000, 5GB, 4 DP
Hard Drive : C2 SATA HDD/SSD Drives, with Intel RSTe SW RAID 0,1,5,10, Dual Raid 256GB SATA Class 20 Solid State Drive
Networking : default+ Intel I210 1Gb Ethernet Adapter (2x1Gbit)
Power supply: Dual, Hot-plug, Redundant Power Supply (1+1), 550W

Recommended video capture cards (any DirectShow compatible cards work):

- Datapath VisionRGB-ES2 (install in Kernel mode for Directshow)

- Elgato HD60 Pro

- Magwell USB Capture SDI 4K Plus

- Magewell Pro Capture Quad HDMI

- Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2

Computers seem to get more and more cores. I hope lightjams can use them all for the signal processing.

Hi Jack,

Yes, the new CPUs are very exciting. And yes, Lightjams loves many cores :) Each grid can be evaluated by a different core and all the audio analysis and other inputs processing are distributed among all cores.
