As I've said on lightfront.riaforge.org, it's early days in the LightFront framework, and this email shows that fact.

In version 0.4.4 of LightFront, the callEvent() function will be renamed to callAction().

This is in response to Joe Reinhart's comments on my blog, stating that LightFront is not an event-driven framework. He's right, and since we're still early on (I've yet to hear about anyone using LightFront yet on anything tangible, except me), I've decided to make the name change, and change any references to events in the framework to actions, which is more appropriate.

Before I do this, does anyone object?  If I don't get any responses against the name change, I'm going ahead.  I'm not going to wait a long time to get feedback, so if you have any opinions... state them quickly!

I'm going to try to wrap up 0.4.3 tonight.

Clarification... It's that LightFront doesn't follow the implicit invocation seen in an "event model".

Here's the post...

I know people are reading the messages... because I saw a comment about the previous post on the another list... so I'm hoping this post will scare off some of the "crickets" I keep hearing around here. It's so quiet in here that all I hear are crickets. :-)

You might want to just deprecate callEvent() and just do this:

<cffunction name="callEvent">
<cfreturn callAction(argumentCollection=arguments) />
</cffunction>

Just in case anyone is using it -- but make it clear in your docs that it's advised against using it.... That's just my two cents....

Event, Action, who cares what it is called.  Sure go ahead.  I am working on it a little here and there in hopes to use it.  I just don't get a lot of time to play around.

When you post the latest Zip of it let me know.  I will get it and set it up.
