Tokyo Cabinet Table Engine?

(I'm responding to the earlier thread here, because google groups
won't let me reply to it directly...)

Tokyo Cabinet's table storage isn't a replacement for a fully
relational SQL database, but for many tasks, this kind of design is
superior in scalability. It's basically just key/value storage with
additional key/value stores used as indexes, so Tokyo Cabinet should
be capable of very high performance here. It would be interesting to
see this additional functionality supported by something like
LightCloud. I'll bet it could be used to implement something very
much like Google's App Engine Datastore.
