Mostkeyboard shortcuts require the user to press a single key or a sequence of keys one after the other. Other keyboard shortcuts require pressing and holding several keys simultaneously (indicated in the tables below by the + sign). Keyboard shortcuts may depend on the keyboard layout.
Keyboard shortcuts are a common aspect of most modern operating systems and associated software applications. Their use is pervasive enough that some users consider them an important element of their routine interactions with a computer. Whether used as a matter of personal preference or for adaptive technology, the pervasiveness of common conventions means that a meaningful comparison of keyboard shortcuts can be made across various widely used operating systems.
Some keyboard shortcuts in dropbox interfere with shortcuts from other programs on my pc, and i want to resolve this by turning off or changing the dropbox shortcuts. example: Dropbox uses my PrtScreen button, but so does Snagit, my preferred screen capture program. Can i override or disable Dropbox default keyboard shortcuts? thanks.
It's the Screenshots option, which you already have unchecked. Just have SnagIt re-capture the Print Screen key and you should be all set. If Dropbox keeps offering to save screenshots, go back to this screen, check the Screenshots box and click Apply, then uncheck it and click Apply again. Then have SnagIt grab the key.
The only key that I"m aware of Dropbox using is Print Screen. It's associated with screenshots being saved to Dropbox. You'll need to disable screenshots in Dropbox Preferences, on the Import tab, then recapture the Print Screen key within SnagIt.
Thanks for the quick reply, and I would be tickled pink if that would work as a solution. Unfortunately, when I follow that path you recommended, I see no command that would control (turn on or off) that keyboard shortcut. I've attached a screen capture you what I'm seeing.... if it makes a difference, I'm using Windows 10.
This isn't the solution. I have this disabled and if Dropbox starts before Snagit, then the Snagit shortcuts won't work. I never use the Dropbox shortcuts - I don't know why they are there - all they do is cause problems. So for the soltuion is to close Dropbox, then start Snagit, then try to remember to restart Dropbox. Neat.
I tried inserting rows using the insert key and it jumped to the first cell of the selected row. the same thing happened when I tried to select multiple rows. I selected a row and pressed shift to select the next one but all it did was jump to the first cell of the selected row. Exactly the same issue with the ctrl key. Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong or is it a software issue? I am on a PC and use these shortcuts daily. I've never had an issue until today.
I opened a support ticket, but I can't close this pop-up no matter what I click or what browser I use and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight. I'm LOCKED OUT of my work because of some stupid UI refresh alert. ?
Keyboard shortcuts aid accessibility and can make it easier and more efficient to navigate to different areas and elements on a page. Most web browsers support these shortcuts, however, the behavior might vary slightly.
Business Central only supports a single character set for data. Therefore, some characters may not be supported in your environment, and you may experience problems when retrieving data that was entered using a different character set. This may also apply to keyboard shortcuts. For instance, your environment may support only English and Russian characters. In this case, if you enter data in a different language, it may not be stored correctly. You should contact your system administrator to make sure you understand which languages are supported by your Business Central.
In addition to the global keyboard shortcuts described in this article, a number of business-specific shortcuts are available. For example, in the generic version of Business Central, F9 posts a document and Ctrl+F7 shows the ledger entries for a record when you open the record in a card. This article includes some of the more common business-specific shortcuts, which are shown in italics. Be aware that the actual shortcuts may be different in your solution. In the user interface, the keyboard shortcut is shown in the tooltip for the action in question.
The following table describes keyboard shortcuts for navigating and accessing different elements of a page. Elements include things like actions, drop-down lists, lookups, and more. For details about keyboard shortcuts for navigating records once you're inside a list, see the next section.
Grids containing rows and columns exist on many page types in Business Central, such as list pages and Lines parts on documents. Moving from one cell to another across a grid is fully keyboard-enabled.
The following shortcuts pertain to the Quick Entry feature on cards, documents, and list pages. On lists, the shortcuts can't be used when the list is in the tile view. For more information about Quick Entry, see Accelerating data entry using Quick Entry.
When setting a date field, you can either enter the date manually or open a calendar (date picker) that lets you select the date you want. The following table describes the keyboard shortcuts for the calendar.
Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that allow you to select specific actions on the action bar and menu for easier navigation, similar to access keys in Excel and Word. However, they're only available in the Business Central web client when the display language is set to English.
Out of the blue not that long ago, all of my keyboard shortcuts stopped working -- the new ones I created, as well as the ones that come with the program. I tried locating the keyboardshortcuts.xml file and deleting it, replacing it with an older version, re-importing it in the options menu, and importing an older version's xml file. I tried deleting the shortcuts within the program and reassigning the letters. I tried repairing and reinstalling Revit.
The status bar in the lower left corner displays the text as I type, and it offers the suggestion as to what command I'm typing, but the commands do not execute. The problem exists in every project file I open, including the sample Revit projects.
I think I've experienced something similar this past month. 2 times now, something odd has occured where I loose keyboard shortcut, middle mouse and correct properties display - Can't reproduce when or why. Closing the project and reopening it did nothing to fix it, but restarting Revit did. I assumed it might be one of the Add-Ins acting up, but now I'm not so sure.
Not really sure how the year is relevant. This thread is from 2015. It didn't get many responses and none of them were marked as a solution. It hasn't had anyone else post with a similar issue until now. It was most likely a one off thing. Probably fixed itself like from a restart.
In order to determine the cause the problem needs to be repeatable and from the looks of this thread it's not an ongoing issue. You can always start a new thread with the details of your problem so that you can mark a solution, if you'd like.
@elias.munoz.neyra I have experienced this quite a number of times now where keyboard shortcuts immediately stopped working. Restarting Revit seems to be the only solution. You said that "In order to determine the cause the problem needs to be repeatable" well I hope this will help in find a more reliable solution. When ever I do a match property and accidentally press "msa" instead of just "ma" the keyboard shortcut stops working.
I've dealt with this problem partially. WHen this occurs while I'm editing section views or detail views if you open edit crop mode and then close it it should refresh your shortcuts and prevent you from restarting RVT. DOwnside: the larger your model the longer it takes to open edit mode.
The quickest way I've found to bring back the keyboard shortcuts is to synchronise with the central model, but tick the box to compact the central model. It takes longer than a normal sync but is faster than restarting Revit.
The times I have seen this issue is because my computer is running a graphics card and driver that is unsupported by Revit (personal laptop). My work laptop that is properly spec'd does not have this issue.
Solution:
Had the same problem many times, i tried restarting the revit(didnt work) i tried restarting pc and it worked... turnes out the restating pc worked because it reseted the keyboard language to english cause i had change it to another language (cause english is not my native language). So to sum this up if you change the language to English (or whatever your Revit has as a default language ) it should work.
Hello @kymberh Did any of the solutions here work for you? I found an article on this topic if you are using remote access where the keyboard shortcuts stop. Does this apply to your problem?
Keyboard shortcuts stop working in Revit
Note: If you visit this page on a Mac, you will see the key bindings for the Mac. If you visit using Windows or Linux, you will see the keys for that platform. If you need the key bindings for another platform, hover your mouse over the key you are interested in.
Most importantly, you can see keybindings according to your keyboard layout. For example, key binding Cmd+\ in US keyboard layout will be shown as Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Cmd+7 when layout is changed to German. The dialog to enter key binding will assign the correct and desired key binding as per your keyboard layout.
You can quickly customize the keybinding for user interface actions. Right-click on any action item in your workbench, and select Customize Keybinding. If the action has a when clause, it's automatically included, making it easier to set up your keybindings just the way you need them.
