I've seen several examples using tags in this format, but have not
been able to find any documentation.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me if any such
documentation exists? (and if so where)

If not, would it be possible to get a quick and dirty explanation? Or
at the very least, a pointer to where in the Lift code base this is
handled?

Thank you,

Donald

CSS transformers, in general, are well covered.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure where it comes from but it's used
frequently. For example:

Section 2.2, line 21 of the example:

<div class="column span-24 bordered">

All the default Lift templates are based on Blueprint CSS (see http://www.blueprintcss.org/ )

The CSS classes that you're seeing come from Blueprint.
