Hey all,
I may either be late for the call tonight or miss it entirely.
I've just joined up at a hackerspace here in chicago called "Pumping Station: One" (
pumpingstationone.org) in order to fabricate some items for our upcoming Chiditarod event. It turns out that the certification process to use tools is somewhat hit-or-miss scheduling-wise, and Tuesday evenings are the best chance of getting certified on tools. Without certs, I can't use tools.
If I don't get certified ASAP, there's a chance I won't get things made on time, since there's going to be a tool learning curve and also day-job time constraints, and our event is in about a month.
So, I'm going to head over to PS:One this evening around 7pm to see what I can get certified on, if at all. The vibe is *extremely* casual there, so I can't guarantee anything for time. At best, I'll get certified and done by 8:30, and probably be joining by phone (since PS:One is somewhat northern and I have no car). At worst, I'd have to hang out there for a long time trying to track someone down for certifications, and might miss the meeting entirely tonight.
Sorry for the late notice, but since I just joined I'm just now getting a download on what it takes to get certified, and am only now becoming aware that it can be tough.
