Dearest Darling friends,

The year is coming to an end. The next year is about to begin. This is the right time for reflections.

365There were a few dramatic events in my life this year. Some were comedies, some were celebrative, some gave a new direction to life. We have started a new organisation that promises more vibrancy and impact than I have ever experienced. We are convinced our best years are ahead of us.

I have been regularly asked, "What are my plans for the year 2011?". On a lighter note, I have always answered...."I plan to plan for things that should be planned. There are no plans to plan for the sake of planning. Nor are there any plans to plan for things that are not worth planning for!"

My friend Milind Naik once shared an amazing piece of wisdom he had received from a teacher of Pranaayam. Milind is a guy who wants to live a complete life. While the pranaayam classes were held early in the morning, Milind was finding it difficult to go there every morning as he wanted to balance a few other activities in the morning too.

One morning after the pranaayam exercises were completed, he entered into a conversation with his pranaayam teacher and explained he will not be able to come there every morning. He explained he had desires to go to Yoga classes too. He would love to trek up the hills near his home too. He would love to go for long walks with his friends too. And then he asked, ideally how many days a week he should do pranaayam.

he teacher replied, "In my books, 365 - 1 = 0". The minimum number of days pranaayam should be practiced every week is 7. The teacher looked so fit. He never huffed and puffed. He was always composed. The effects of 365 - 1 = 0, was visible. There was no way to counter his suggestion.

When Milind shared this incident with me, I clearly remember he was in awe of his teacher. My first thought was, if I had written 365 - 1 = 0, my maths teacher would have certainly failed me. The next moment I also realized, this indeed is the key to success too, isn't it?

I scanned my life to find are there things that I do where I too can say 365 - 1 = 0. Sadly, I could not find anything. My next question to myself was, where should I have 365 - 1 = 0 ? I discovered and decided a few interesting things.

Since I have an ambitious fitness goal I have decided that for physical exercises, my philosophy is going to be 365 - 1 = 0.

Since I want to experience the depths of silence on a daily basis, in sitting in the seat of meditation too my philosophy is going to be 365 - 1 = 0.

Wise men say, we can never see reflections in boiling water. Similarly, when we are in the sway of boiling emotions, we are not able to see clearly. Since I have ambitious professional and organizational goals, to achieve them I will need, total composure at all times. Since I guide, mentor and counsel many people daily, I need total composure for right thoughts, feelings and solutions in each and every human interaction. Hence, I will practice great breathing techniques with the philosophy of 365 - 1 = 0.

Through mails, through Life School Messages, through other writing mediums, I will write every day something worth living for, with the philosophy of 365 - 1 = 0.

I believe, nature energizes. it heals, it purifies. Every day I will be with nature for a minimum of 15 minutes with the philosophy of 365 - 1 = 0.

I firmly believe, our willingness to compromise on good HABITS is what leads us to lead an ordinary life.

I believe each one of us can live an impactful life. I believe this philosophy of 365 - 1 = 0 will ensure we do the good things in life, consistently. This in turn will enable us to greatly enhance our self-belief. This in turn will help us to ignite the spark of greatness within us. This in turn will help us to live life to our potentials. That is what YOU deserve.

Lets take life head on. In a few aspects of your life, in places where you would love to improve, grow and perform, lets commit to the philosophy of 365 - 1 = 0. Initially it may sound tough, you may even doubt yourself, but I insist you must take it up. Give it a shot. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Succeed in it. Push yourself. HELP yourself by conquering your doubts. If you won't, who will?

Life with its abundance awaits you with open arms. Come forward and embrace it. I am sure 365 - 1 = 0 will be of help to you, more than you can imagine.

With love, prayers and best wishes,

naren

Have you removed your blindfold?

This guy Mandbuddhi was in a tearing hurry. He was inside the jungle. There were thorny bushes, uneven jagged ground, bulging rocks, unsuspecting turns, dense plants, low hanging branches, all acting as impediments in his way.

He was walking fast. Every now and then he was increasing his speed. As he was increasing his speed, he was stumbling and falling. He was getting hurt. He was already bruised. Some more new bruises would appear. He believed the jungle was conspiring to hurt him, to hunt him. With every obstacle his anger and frustration was increasing.

Because I fail so often, I am successful

If Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was alive today and giving a speech ending with, "You give me blood, I will give you freedom!, what freedom would he be talking about?

Freedom from the clutches of the politicians? Freedom from greedy industrialists? Freedom from a few gnawing relationships? Or is it the freedom to freely admit something within us is collapsing.
