Dearest Darling friends,

In one of the sessions I asked every one in my class what are the major challenges in their life. Some participants could not think of anything.

One participant Abhijeet asked me, "How should I measure what are the major challenges in my life?"

I asked all the 50 participants in that batch to visit a person whom they knew had more challenges than they are having. This should give us some reference point to know if we indeed had major challenges. I asked them to then share their experiences with the batch.

This is the mail I received from Abhijeet.

"Today I visited to my office boy's place (Anil), he stays in the slum area of parvati. When I told him in the evening that I am coming to your place for dinner, he was just confused and didn’t know how to react, he said "kya sir joke kar rahe ho kya? ( Are you making fun of me, Sir?)

sea_pearlsSomehow he agreed. I went at around 7.30pm to his place. He stays in a small room, the food which was cooked was just amazing (jowari ki roti, mutter usal and onion), It was a bit spicy, but was just amazing.

The thing that has really confused me is that how he runs his home with his salary which is just Rs. 6000? I asked myself how I can help him to increase his income as he is just HSC passed. I asked him did he know to read and write in English. He replied he can do a bit.

I thought why not to teach him how to fill PAN card application forms which does not require much skill. However, filling the form correctly needs sincerity. On an average in a month 15 PAN card applications are made from our office, the clients are charged somewhere around 300 to 350 per PAN card. If he can learn how to make the application he may earn additional income of about Rs. 2500 to Rs. 3000 per month. I told him that initially I would help him in filling the forms.

Today I realized that the challenges in my life are nothing as compared to Anil's. My life is just great going as compared to him. I would like to thank you for making me realize that my life is going really well and I will have to keep on challenging myself to get the best out of me. I will also keep you updated about Anil's progress."

Abhijeet's mail gladdened my heart. He had done a wonderful thing by helping someone by providing an opportunity. Now it is up to Anil to make the most of this opportunity.

I believe life is all about grabbing or ignoring opportunities. Those who make it big are people who alertly grabbed more opportunities than others. I know of enough people who had a small opportunity, grabbed it with all that they had, and their life has become a reference point for so many.

Abhijeet grabbed the opportunity to learn that he has more than Anil. Abhijeet grabbed the opportunity to make a difference in Anil's life and rise in his own eyes. Abhijeet grabbed this opportunity and promised me he will keep on challenging himself to get the best out of himself.

There were a few participants who saw this exercise as a boring one. They did not do it and supported it by some frivolous reasons. They thought, in giving the reasons they are showing their smartness. Abhijeet showed grabbing the opportunity was smartness.

Enough had the opportunity to work with Rama Krishna Paramhansa. Vivekananda grabbed the opportunity to make the best out of him. Krishna made himself available to both the Kauravas and the Pandavas. Pandavas grabbed the opportunity of having Krishna with them and won the battle of Kurukshetra.

Lets be honest and look at our life. What are the fantastic opportunities that 'Life' has provided to us? Do we even notice the presence of the opportunities?

It can be a loving life partner. It can be a guiding friend. It can be presence of an encouraging family. It can be a business deal. It can be a social responsibility. It can be in providing an opportunity and change someone's life by enabling them to lift themselves. It can be by just loving someone who needs our love. It can be in surprising someone and creating a memory of a life time for them. It can be just anything....

Are we making the best of the opportunities that we have? Are we? Really?

If you have to rate yourself as a person who is alert in grabbing opportunities, how would you rate yourself? Someone did say luck is nothing but my ability to grab opportunities.

While a few of us are good and alert in grabbing some area specific opportunities (like making money or impressing people or cooking for a loved one, etc.) the next question is lovely and important.

If you have to develop yourself in grabbing opportunities in any other area of your life, where would you happily develop yourself from today? Maybe you are good in grabbing opportunities to make friends. Now how about developing opportunities in _________________________ and grow well in another aspect of life. Please think and do something about it.

I would love to see you grabbing 'this' opportunity and letting us know how 'Life School Messages' are helping you? We would love to grab this opportunity to know from you, how do you believe we can make a greater impact in the lives of our readers.

My friend Archana sent me an SMS that read, "Sea is an opportunity. While some take pearls, some take fishes and some just wet their legs." Ensure you collect maximum from your trip to the sea...

With love, prayers and best wishes,

naren
