Hi.
I want to translate Lifepress in Italian.
What files do I have to create\edit?

You should start looking at
http://code.google.com/p/lifepress/source/browse/system/application/language/english/lifepress_lang.php

For a new language you create a new directory under LIFEPRESS/system/
application/language/YOURLANGUAGE and provide the file
lifepress_lang.php.

If you want your language included in the official release (and I'd be
very happy if you do) just create a clone of Lifepress (http://
code.google.com/p/lifepress/source/clones) or create a new issue
(http://code.google.com/p/lifepress/issues/list) and attach your
files.

Good luck! ;-)

Thank you, but I was looking also for things like date format, months,
ecc.

I haven't looked into it in any detail (because I do everything in english) but CodeIgniter has a lot of helper functions that may do exactly what you're looking for.

I found in /system/language/ many files, and I think there is probably
what I'm looking for.

Please be sure *not* to edit anything that isn't in /system/application/ everything else is CodeIgniter (which we are trying to avoid changing to we can keep it up to date with as little difficulty as possible), not Lifepress.

I only duplicated the "english" directory, renamed it and started
translating.
However I found on the codeigniter site italian language files, so I
think I will translate only /system/application/languages/.

I translated everything and now I'm reviewing the files. How do I send
them to you?

One way is to create an issue on http://code.google.com/p/lifepress/issues/list
and add your files as an attachment. Or you go knee deep into
development and start a clone on http://code.google.com/p/lifepress/source/clones,
add your files and then Carlos or I will pull them, review and add to
the official repository.

I thought about having the languages in separate files, so the base
download would only have english language. Is that still useful in
times with broadband connections? Or is the new language just 1kB that
is added to the (already large) CodeIgniter framework?

CodeIgniter language files are 18 KB (56 KB on disk).
Lifepress language files are 1,14 KB (8 KB on disk).

I suggest to put languages in the main download.
