Hi All,

The International Finance Corporation has released a 'Tipsheet' (guidance document) to inform developers and financing institutions how to prevent bird electrocutions at small power distribution lines. While most of this knowledge is not new to us (and several similar documents already exist), this summary is aimed at an audience that we rarely reach:

Feel free to share this with governments and developers or those that finance electricity developments.

Cheers,
Steffen

Dear Steffen,

Greetings and good morning from Djibouti!

Many thanks for circulating this important guidance document. It’s greatly appreciated that you took the time to share it with us. While much of the knowledge is familiar, the fact that the International Finance Corporation has tailored this summary for developers and financing institutions—an audience we rarely reach—makes it especially valuable.

Your effort in ensuring this resource is accessible to a wider circle is commendable, and it will certainly help strengthen our collective outreach.

All the best,
Houssein

Dear all,

Despite we, as IFC-International Finance Corporation/ World Bank Group, appear as the authors of the Tip sheet is a joint work together with the EBRD.

The same has been, with the addition of the German Bank  KfW, of the Handbook on Post-construction Bird and Bat Fatality Monitoring for Onshore Wind Energy Facilities in Emerging Market Countries.  This Handbook also includes a section on powerline fatality monitoring. Available at https://www.ifc.org/en/insights-reports/2023/bird-bat-fatality-monitoring-onshore-wind-energy-facilities

Best
