Support Egyptian Vulture New LIFE in the LIFE Awards 2026

Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to share that the flyway-level project Egyptian Vulture New LIFE, under which initiative this mailing list was established, has been selected as a finalist in one of the most prestigious awards for nature and biodiversity in Europe - the European Commission LIFE Awards.
The project is competing with two other finalists in the “Nature and Biodiversity” category, as well as with eight projects for the prestigious Citizens’ Prize, which is decided through public voting.
On behalf of BSPB and all project partners, I would be extremely grateful if you could support the project with your vote:

We would also highly appreciate it if you could share the campaign more widely within your organisations, networks, and among colleagues and supporters, to help increase the project’s chances of winning the Citizens’ Prize.
Among its most significant achievements, Egyptian Vulture New LIFE succeeded in halting the more than 30-year-long decline of the Egyptian Vulture population in Bulgaria, with the population now showing the first signs of positive growth. The project also provided, for the first time, a comprehensive assessment and quantification of the major threats affecting the species along the Eastern Mediterranean flyway, laying the foundation for key conservation actions in the Balkans, the Middle East and East Africa.
The project brought together 22 partners from 14 countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa and established an unprecedented flyway-scale conservation network dedicated to safeguarding the species throughout its migratory range.

It was a great honor to work with you and to follow the incredible achievements of the Egyptian Vulture New LIFE project. I have already voted for the project and I will also try to share it with others to help support the campaign for the Citizens’ Prize.
The project’s impact across the Eastern Mediterranean flyway is truly inspiring, especially the success in stopping the long-term decline of the Egyptian Vulture population in Bulgaria and building such a strong international conservation network across three continents. These achievements are an important contribution to global biodiversity conservation and a strong example of effective international cooperation.
