Egyptian Vulture released in Bulgaria occupied breeding territory

Dear colleagues,

We are happy to share with you the exciting story of Panteley - captive-bred Egyptian Vulture released in Bulgaria in 2018 which now formed a pair in the wild, just 5 km from the release site.

He becomes the fourth released bird which forms a pair in the wild and occupies a breeding territory. We expect the first successful breeding soon.

Thank you Volen for this information, this is so exciting, hopeful and encouraging news!!! 

But also in Greece (as you probably already know) we now have the first new couple in years, I saw them with my own eyes in Meteora a while ago and we hope they will have offspring this year!!!! 

Bravo to all partners of the Balkan team for this great success, seeing new couples (especially from captive breeding) is a conservation milestone!
