Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to share with you the 2025 Annual report on the Egyptian Vulture Reinforcement Programme in Bulgaria. The report is available at the link below. Please feel free to share it widely among others who may be interested:   .
https://lifeneophron.eu/back2/public/files/documents/arkumarev-2025-english-version-egyptian-vulture-reinforcement-integrated-report-694561f4d06fc.pdf

Here you may find some infographics for the released individuals:

In 2025, six more Egyptian Vultures were released in the Eastern Rhodopes. Currently, 20% of the breeding pairs in the region include at least one individual originating from the reinforcement programme. As a result of the intensive conservation measures implemented by numerous partners along the flyway, together with the reinforcement efforts, the Egyptian Vulture population in Bulgaria has increased from 24 breeding pairs in 2019 to 37 occupied territories this year.

Despite this success, we also experienced some tragic losses this year due to poisoning and electrocution in Bulgaria and along the flyway, highlighting the need for continued and strengthened efforts to mitigate these persistent threats.

Best regards and happy holidays!

Thanks Volen.

Fantastic work and wonderful results, demonstrating that indeed the delayed release of captive-bred Egyptian vultures approach works effectively and that you are on a good way to restore the population in Bulgaria.

Well done also to Anton for his efforts to provide as many chicks for the release programme as possible.

I also take this opportunity to wish you all Happy New Year from all of us here at the VCF!

Best,

José Tavares
