Yes - Grassland soils are a great absorber of Carbon.

And see how Grasslands harbour many more of the beneficial fungi [often termed as 'rare fungi' because these have been 'cleaned off' in the arable lands, especially in the intensively cultivated lands e.g. wheat and paddy cycles in Punjab] - showing all the more importance of Grasslands, here- https://rdcu.be/e4qDF

Also,
The microbially rich soil under the grasslands maintains its richness mainly by virtue of the livestock roaming above and providing inputs essential for those 'rare fungi' and other microbes to thrive and prosper. These are called 'rare' because these are (mostly) absent in our 'food production lands'.

Soil contains three times more carbon than the earth's atmosphere; and, more importantly, soil can act as a sink for all the excess carbon in the air - acting as a saviour of the Planet; much is achievable by Natural / Agroecological Farming and Organic Animal Husbandry and - thanks to IYRP - by attending to saving and maintaining our Grasslands & Pastoral Systems.

Best,
