When I dug into the financial documents of Rambol (which has now changed its name to Venad Food Industries), a startling pattern emerged. Rambol had a direct connection to Sian Agro Industries and Infrastructure, a key company in Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's business empire. Gadkari, considered a close ally of the RSS within the BJP, is the Member of Parliament from Nagpur. The Managing Director of Sian Agro is his son, Nikhil Gadkari. Most of Rambol's shareholders and directors are linked to companies owned by the Gadkari family. Not only that, several longtime shareholders involved in the beef trade have invested in Sian Agro. The chairperson of the cooperative bank that provided Rambol with a major loan is Minister Gadkari's wife, Kanchan Gadkari. Rambol's Managing Director, Mahesh Kumar Balakrishna Pillai, was previously a director of 'Sian Capital,' which shares the same registered address as Sian Agro. For a new company to receive crores in trade credit facilities (trade payables) is extraordinary in the business world. This relationship was not limited to finances alone. The operational style of Rambol and Mithr (a marketing firm) was entirely similar to that of Sian Agro. Mithr's website featured details of Gadkari's other companies, and their brochure prominently displayed the Sian Agro logo. Even on Google Maps, the photo of 'Rambol Agro' clearly shows the 'Sian' logo. This same ambiguity extends to their products as well. Some of their advertisements describe it as buffalo meat (buff or carabeef), while on Mithr's website, several products are labeled 'beef' (which is typically used for cow or bull).
