Under Secretary for Democracy and Global Affairs María Otero to Travel to Costa Rica, Guatemala and Honduras

Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs María Otero will travel to Costa Rica, Guatemala and Honduras from November 28 to December 2 to discuss democracy and human rights, citizen security, and youth issues. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Todd Robinson will accompany Under Secretary Otero for the Costa Rica and Guatemala stops of her trip.

During her visit to Costa Rica, Under Secretary Otero will engage with senior government officials and civil society representatives to discuss bilateral cooperation on citizen security, trafficking in persons, and human rights. In Guatemala, Under Secretary Otero will hold meetings with senior government officials, civil society representatives, and youth leaders to engage on a range of issues, including human rights, crime prevention, and social inclusion. On her final stop in Honduras, the Under Secretary will meet with government officials, civil society representatives, and youth activists to address the human rights and security situation.
