Councilmember Cathy Moore's legislation to address prostitution and gun violence in our neighborhood was passed last week by the Public Safety Committee by a 5-0 vote. It is set for a final vote at the City Council meeting tomorrow, Tuesday September 17th. You can find more information, including changes to the legislation since the original proposal, here.
Residents are invited to testify at the full council meeting. Public comment starts at 2pm, but to testify in person you should get there early (as early as noon) to sign up. The meeting will take place at Seattle City Hall between Cherry and James and 3rd and 4th, on the second floor.
If you can’t attend in person, you can testify by phone. Sign up here, starting at 1:00 p.m. - earlier is better. After signing up you will get a message on the number to call to testify; please call back by 1:55 p.m.
Alternatively, you can e-mail all 9 Councilmembers at cou...@seattle.gov. You can share your personal experience and opinion on the legislation.
