Important Action Alert:
The City's OPCD right now is working on an update to the Comprehensive Plan - it's the foundation of the city's zoning, which in turn will greatly affect the whole of our city, its housing, its economics, and the nature of the city's transportation system
for decades to come. It is being done at the same time as the City develops the Seattle Transportation Plan; both will directly affect each other.
The City's OPCD has identified five generic alternatives and are seeking the initial round of public comment by July 25. See

Although there will be lengthy public discussion and feedback opportunities, the early concept period sets the stage and tenor of that which follows.
The last update was in the 1990's. It was what directed most growth to urban villages, which were mostly centered on major busy arterials (and which bear remarkable similarities to the 1920's red-lining maps).
