Hi folks,

Final push for a transportation levy that will build more sidewalks, bike lanes, and safety projects!!

We have been working behind the scenes and several councilmembers are open to the idea of voting yes, but are all hesitant and want to know they aren't going it alone. Please push especially hard on council members Moore, Hollingsworth, Woo, and Strauss.

SEND AN EMAIL: Send the City Council a written public comment at cou...@seattle.gov, or use this easy form and share with friends and neighbors in D3, D5, and D6!!

Thank you for your continued advocacy, and happy pride weekend!!

Be well,
Clara

***Urgent Levy Update***

Today, Councilmember Morales responded to community advocacy and proposed an amendment that will increase the size of the transportation levy to $1.7B by making council amendments additive instead of pitting vital priorities against each other. CLICK HERE to push Council to vote YES for a $1.7B levy that builds sidewalks and safety projects by Tues, July 2!

LAST CHANCE TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!

  1. SEND AN EMAIL: Send the City Council a written public comment at cou...@seattle.gov, or use this easy form.

  3. SHOW UP: Speak directly to Council at City Hall Tuesday, July 2, at 9:30 am. You can also sign up to speak virtually. See How-To and talking points here.

Alt Text: Three images of people holding signs that read “Safe Streets for the South End”, “I <3 sidewalks, bike lanes, & bus lanes!” and “Don’t Defund Transit.”

Background: Thanks to your advocacy, the draft Transportation Levy has significantly improved since we first saw it in April. But Council is still trying to pit vital priorities against each other. We shouldn't have to choose between building or repairing sidewalks, or between public open space and protected bike lanes. We need all of these things, and polling shows that voters will pass a levy that funds them.

Polling is Supportive: A poll conducted by Change Research found that 79% of Seattle voters would approve a $1.7B levy, and that 2/3 of those would go even higher, preferring a larger $1.9 billion levy when told it would build more sidewalks and safety projects. Voters understand what’s at stake, and council needs to capitalize on this unique moment.

We Must Push Now: This is our last chance to push city council to finalize a Transportation Levy that will get us where we need to go for the next 8 years.

CLICK HERE to push Council to vote YES for a $1.7B levy that builds sidewalks and safety projects by Tues, July 2!

Thank you for your advocacy!!

Be Well,
Clara
