Hi,

I have a question regarding what happens when you release an upgrade
to an app in blackberry app world. So, say I release an app and 100
people buy it and a license is generated for each purchase. Then I
release an upgrade to the app, say new features or bug fixes. This
means that I have to create a new product instance for the new version
number, say 1.1 in licmax. Does this mean that when each of these
hundred people download the upgrade that they will request new
licenses even though the license is the same because it is based off
the device id? Will I have to pay for these 100 duplicate licenses?

Thanks.

Hi Devin,
What you need to do in this case is edit the existing Product Instance at licmax and change the version.
This way, the copies of your product as well as the newly sold ones will continue to work normally as if
no change was made in your byte ode. IF you change the name of the Product Instance, then it is a different
story. The system treats it as if it is a completely different instance/configuration.

Bottom Line: Each time you introduce new upgrade to your product, simply edit the instance configuration at
licmax and upgrade
