When I start LiClipse now, I get the message:

The LiClipse executable launcher was unable to locate its
companion shared library.

Plus, I'm getting the following log entries:

1/16/16 6:51:58.360 AM LiClipse[9466]: WARNING: The Gestalt selector gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.2 instead of 10.11.2. This is not a bug in Gestalt -- it is a documented limitation. Use NSProcessInfo's operatingSystemVersion property to get correct system version number.

Humm, haven't seen that before...

Which MacOS version are you using?

The comments at http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/180036/application-crashes-gestalt-selector-gestaltsystemversion-returning-10-9-2 may give you some information which may fix it in your machine...

El Capitan 10.11.2

The last "change" to LiClipse was to update from the update site rather than reinstalling.  I'm going to try a reinstall.

That did the trick.  Maybe a *.ini file pointing to the wrong place?

I must say I have no idea what could trigger that (to me it appears like a Mac OS backward-compatibility bug from an update on the system, not on the LiClipse update -- but then again, I'm clueless as what actually triggers that).

Best Regards,

Fabio

It happened again with this update.  Is there something you need to help debug the issue?  Kinda makes updates clunky with having to reinstall the world.

Please create a bug report with the details at: https://sw-brainwy.rhcloud.com/tracker/LiClipse/

I'll try to reproduce it here...

Bumping this old thread.

I had the same problem. I had a working LiClipse 3.0.6 installation on Mac OS X 10.10.5. I updated it via Eclipse mechanisms from the LiClipse update site. Result: I get an error dialogue: "Alert: The LiClipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library."

I filed a bug report, https://www.brainwy.com/tracker/LiClipse/199 .  I'll put further updates there.

HI Jim,

I've found and fixed the issue in LiClipse 4.0 (unfortunately, if you upgrade from 3.x it'll still have the same problem), so, a fresh install is needed.

See: http://www.liclipse.com/download.html#updating_native for instructions on how to properly update (afterwards this shouldn't be a problem updating, but I still recommend to follow those instructions so that you can keep better track of what you actually have installed).

Best Regards,

Fabio
