The Terminator, also known as a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 or the T-800, is the name of several film characters from the Terminator franchise portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger and numerous actor stand-ins digitally overlaid with Schwarzenegger's likeness. The Terminator himself is part of a series of machines created by Skynet for infiltration-based surveillance and assassination missions, and while an android for his appearance, he is usually described as a cyborg consisting of living tissue over a robotic endoskeleton.
In the T2 commentary, Cameron states that the Model 101s all look like Schwarzenegger, with a 102 looking like someone else, leading to speculation that the 101 refers to the physical appearance while the 800 refers to the endoskeleton common to many models. A scene deleted from the theatrical cut, but restored in the Terminator 2 Special Edition, lends the most credence to this explanation: John and Sarah Connor shut down the Terminator for modification according to his instructions. When he reboots, the upper-left of his HUD reads "Cyberdyne Systems Series 800 Model 101 Version 2.4". Additionally, the original Terminator 2 teaser trailer further verifies this on a display monitor during android tissue generation, referencing "Series 800 Model 101".[8] In the T2 novel T2: Infiltrator, a skinless T-800 is known as a T-90, while a T-800 with Schwarzenegger's likeness is stated to be part of the T-101 series, specifically a T-101A.
I am sending letter A (string letter = "A
") on my android phone to a device. In matlab the code is set(s1,'Terminator', 'CR'). I would like to know how this is done from on an android phone. I want an enter after I sending letter A. Thanks for you answers in advance
The premise of the original (spoilers ahead) is that a military AI system called Skynet deliberately unleashes a nuclear war to try to exterminate humanity in the near future. A small number of human fighters survive and mount a resistance. Skynet develops time-travel technology and sends an android back in time to kill the resistance leader’s mother before he’s born, but the resistance manages to send one fighter back to protect her. In T2, a more advanced android is sent back to kill the resistance leader as a kid, and a version of the original killer android (reprogrammed to be good) is sent back to protect him. But the kid and his mom decide that instead of just surviving, they should act to prevent Skynet’s creation.
But I think to most people who saw them once 20 years ago or have just seen some clips on YouTube, these movies are about Arnold Schwarzenegger playing a time-traveling android who gets into fights. And, indeed, that is the bulk of the films’ screen time. So if I say, “‘The Terminator’ is about catastrophic AI risk,” and you think what I’m really saying is that catastrophic AI risk is about the possibility that a very strong android wearing a leather jacket will start shooting people with a shotgun, then you’ll understandably think I’m an idiot.
T2, which came out during the Yeltsin years, offers a slightly different explanation of the looming mass death from the perspective of a “good” terminator android who’s been reprogrammed by the resistance. His version of the story is a bit more sympathetic to the AI:
Basically, it quotes a lot of different people saying that a very powerful computer built to perform a specific task (play chess, play go, do facial recognition on all the photos on your iPhone) is very different from the kind of artificial general intelligence (AGI) that sparks the fears about Skynet. And that is definitely true — I don’t think anyone is concerned that Alpha Go is going to declare war on humanity. The BBC also argues that androids running around and killing people is not a super-plausible threat:
Ever since then I’ve been trying to decide if I agree with him that this lack of comprehension is a serious problem, and I’m not really sure. But to the extent that it is a serious problem, I would recommend embracing the Terminator analogy as a broadly accessible entry point — just with the stipulation that it’s important to be clear that the concern is with a largely off-stage aspect of the mythos rather than the action movie stuff about androids fighting each other.
I finally got this battle finished with the help of two SoundCloud rap battle people (which is fine because I'm aiming to get this battle onto SoundCloud anyways), RedKirby101IsHere and Honeycombs96. Today we have The Terminator, eponymous protagonist and antagonist at various times of the Terminator franchise, up against Android 16, the robotic replica of Dr Gero's son whose power was too great to be set free by the good doctor, to see which superpowerful fully artifical android beats time travellers more effectively.
How do I plot the coordinates
The Terminator coordinates calculated are provided as a List of latitude, longitude pairs) . Use a LineString with the coordinates to provide a 'trace' of the Terminator line. Plot the terminator ground trace line by setting LineString.Points to the terminatorList.
To display display a solid filled representation of the sunny versus night side of the earth, you need a Polygon on the Map. Show a display of illuminated versus non-illuminated Earth by setting Polygon1.Points to the terminatorList. Polygon1.FillColor provides a semi-transparent coloring of the portion of the map that is receiving sunshine.
Major Metallitron, also known as Sergeant Metallic (メタリック軍曹, Metarikku Gunsō) in the original Japanese version, is an android created by the Red Ribbon Army, and Goku's second challenge in the Muscle Tower.
Due to his android functions, Metallitron is very stoic and follows any given assignment to him with no hesitation, as his duty is to stop anyone from advancing past the third floor of the Muscle Tower, even if it means killing them. He does seem to be able to exhibit some emotions such as frustration while fighting Goku. Owing to his basis to the Terminator, he speaks with a thick, almost monotone Austrian accent.
When Goku enters Muscle Tower, Major Metallitron commends him for getting so far but vows to not let him get any further. The two battle briefly until Goku lands a punch that causes the androids head to fall off and it is subsequently destroyed.
While not as powerful as many androids introduced later on in the series, he was still able to give Goku some trouble, which led him to believe that Major Metallitron was strong enough to take part in the World Martial Arts Tournament. It is unknown if he could have defeated Goku, had his batteries not run out when they did.
The The Sarah Connor Chronicles Bible (at least, if one can believe the reference on the wiki) indicated that Cameron was a T-900 terminator, which is among the models that use living tissue to cover the endoskeleton, so they are as much a cyborg as most of the terminators that we see in the series.
Everyone and everything has a purpose. Alas for some, their purpose is to be served up as food to a genocidal bio-android. There are different categories of androids. The first has an unlimited energy supply. Androids 16, 17, and 18 fell into this category, but their kind were the most difficult to control; hence them killing Gero. With unlimited energy, never growing fatigued in battle, the androids could fight for long periods of time and they could get stronger through training.
Even before they got turned into androids, 17 and 18 were already delinquents. After the process was done to them, they became unstable and unhinged, their terrible personalities magnified all the more by the experiments they endured.
With the exception of human-based cyborgs such as I825.M, the I-950, the Hybrid, Specialist, and Augment, all Terminators are androids. With the addition of living tissue they gain the title of cyborg, despite the fact that models such as the T-800 are capable of performing operations without their living tissue with no detriment to their performance. (However, keeping in mind that the T-800 was designed for Infiltration rather than frontline duty.)
T-1000 and T-X Terminators, both utilized mimetic polyalloy rather than living tissue for their exterior (and interior in the case of the T-1000). Therefore, most traditional definitions would make them advanced androids, not cyborgs.
Just when you thought Judgment Day had been averted, a new poster for Terminator: Dark Fate arrives with a reminder that an apocalyptic future filled with human-hunting androids is still a very real possibility in the world of the classic sci-fi franchise.
From writer/director Mattson Tomlin and producer Matt Reeves, the sci-fi thriller Mother/Android is set in the near future and follows Georgia (Chloë Grace Moretz) and her boyfriend Sam (Algee Smith), as they try to survive in a world at war with artificial intelligence. Being able to escape would give them the opportunity for a better life for their soon to be born first child, but a dangerous journey and murderous androids standing in their way make everything seem impossible.
This warning indicates a probable typographical error: a nul character is being assigned to a pointer; it is probably the case that the character is intended as a string terminator and should be assigned to the memory where the pointer is pointing.
