There is a large parking lot here, but still I encourage carpooling if possible. I will let you all set up your own carpools. You can reply here or send a new email to Licheneers to do this. I will be driving down from Bellingham and have room for three others in my car.
We will go rain or shine, so be prepared for all weather (although hopefully it won’t be super windy and cold and rainy again).
I imagine we will stay until around 3pm. Please bring a lunch or snacks to eat, and water.
I also encourage you to bring a loupe or other handheld magnifying device, a lichen field guide if you have one, and paper envelopes or something to put samples in if you would like to collect some to ID in a future Licheneers lab session.
We will be walking on some paved trails, with plenty of options to go onto more challenging steep dirt trails. It may be muddy if it's been raining so be prepared for that.
I have attached a list of lichens to look for while we are there. There are, of course, many more species at Mt. Erie than what is included on my list, but this gives us some notable ones to look for. I am sure our compiled species list after our field trip will be much longer.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns ahead of time, or on the day of!
Hope to see you there for a fun day of community and lichenizing :)
