You should try to follow the following steps if that helps:
(Please try the steps on a test install not on your production site)
- Deactivate WP RSS Aggregator plugin
- Create a new post type using Types with the same slug (wprss_feed_item) from Toolset -> Post Types/
- And then reactivate WP RSS Aggregator plugin
I didn't expect to see the Feed Item post type as an available Post Type in Views - and it isn't there. But I was surprised to see the Feed Sources IS there as an available post type (although it's of no use to me). So it seems something has been done to integrate with WP RSS Aggregator.
An alternative approach would be to use their Feed to post feature (as you describe here -content-post-typewp-rss-aggregator/). But it would be simpler all round to just have access direct to the Feed Items within Views.
The thing is that the WP RSS Aggregator plugin uses the post type wprss_feed_item to store the feed items but that post type is private to that plugin that is why its not showing up with the views or post type listing page.

Yes, along with the Feed to Post add-on we have another add-on called Full Text RSS Feeds that can get the full content of most feeds that only supply a short excerpt. The Full Text RSS Feeds add-on requires Feed to Post and a valid license key to function.
Each feed source needs to have a few general settings set. They let the plugin know what to do with the incoming posts. The default settings are the most commonly used, so in most cases, you can leave them as they are. However, modifying these settings gives you a lot of flexibility.

This is the theory. Add custom tags in a code block with the needed data. With an external service, read in the RSS feed from the SS site. Transform it with XSLT into a finalized format. Other tools might be used as well. Then provide the transformed file via a URL.

Our hope is that the news aggregator we're having issues with might be able to recommend a workaround or a more specialized developer who could do something in the vein of what you're suggesting.
