libstrophe library size

hi all,
I installed libstrophe library for xmpp messaging. But the size goes beyond 5mb after installation. Can you please help me to reduce size of library or suggest any lighter versions of libstrophe or any lighter library. I want to use it for linux.

Hi. My installation is ~300KB. Actual libraries are 180KB and 100KB for static and shared libraries respectively. This is for x86_64.
What were your steps during installing? What's your linux distribution?
