As per my understanding, if I take incremental backups using RDiff.exe the restoring process could take very long. Say for instance I have a PST file that changes everyday and is around 50GB size and I have 300 increments deltas. I will have to patch the first backup and then its Deltas. This will continue 300 times until I reach the last backup.

Am I on the wrong track in my planning ?
Is Differential backup the only way out ?

I am asking this because we cannot path the Basis file with the delta and we need to create a new file.

Yes, that's correct.

Typically one would either:

- take a full snapshot every so often
- or, form the deltas into some kind of spanning tree structure so that you don't need to apply them all linearly
