omettendone alcuni, e questo si traduce in maggiore fruibilità per lo
studente. Per ogni focus una mappa concettuale mostra il filo conduttore
che lega un capitolo ad altri, fornendo al docente la libertà di
selezionare alcune parti e allo studente un quadro d'insieme. Per
favorire l'autonomia di studio i capitoli sono scritti in modo da
risultare il più possibile svincolati rispetto all'ordine di
presentazione; si aprono inoltre con due domande - Perché dobbiamo
conoscere queste cose? e Che cosa dobbiamo già sapere? -che aiutano gli
studenti rispettivamente a mantenere viva la motivazione e a orientarsi
nella materia. La flessibilità del libro arriva poi a toccare il cuore
della teoria. L'approccio cinetico e l'approccio termodinamico ai
fenomeni dell'equilibrio vengono presentati in parallelo nella rubrica
Come si spiega?, un'innovazione che permette di affrontare questo
argomento da due diversi punti di vista. Inoltre, una trattazione
matematica innovativa agevola lo studente che deve cimentarsi con
