Jesus Teaches Christian Readers to Notice What a Book Makes Them Desire

[D Vandergraph]

Books shape desire as much as they shape thought.

Jesus gives Christian readers a reason to pay attention.

What does the book make success look like? What does it teach us to envy, pursue, fear, or admire?

Reading thoughtfully means letting Christ remain the final measure of what deserves our desire.
