[libRETS-users] Odd error from Python client

ERROR: in method 'new_GetObjectRequest', argument 2 of type ‘std::string’

Error trying to get photos [in method 'new_GetObjectRequest', argument 2 of type 'std::string']

USAGE:

ptype = “Property” (default, otherwise passed value in function)

otype = “Photo” (default, otherwise passed value in function)

request = librets.GetObjectRequest(ptype, otype)

...

QUESTION:

Pulling photos working in most markets but for at least one I’m seeing these errors in logs (in brackets is Exception thrown by librets). Any ideas on cause/conditions and if a string formatting issue, what type (Python) is it expecting?

I don’t think it’s a Python thing and more a librets GetObjectRequest. We see it happening with all major MLS vendors, and both Property and Agent resources. I’m just curious what that particular error is implying when trying to retrieve photos so we can prevent/solve.

This question is for the librets user group (developers/users of librets library maintained by NAR CRT), and not the MLS system vendors per se. Using that library, results in this particular error, so we are wondering what parameters it expects or how to troubleshoot why the error.

Example is if we pass “Property”, “Photo” to the GetObjectRequest and perhaps for Agent resource it should be “Agent”, “AgentPhoto” or something. The error message doesn’t explain enough and no RetsExceptions were thrown so it’s difficult to diagnose.

I see here are some of the system names for photos.

Within the property resource and pulling in either SF_1, MF_2, FR_3, LD_4, and CI_5 (single family, mulit family, farms, land, commercial) you can pull the following in regards to photos.
